Vama rolls out take-away operation Chelsea Indian restaurant Vama is to launch a second take-away operation in Wimbledon, south London, next month with a further three in the pipeline.
The first Vamaji opened in Battersea last year. The Wimbledon launch will be followed by openings in Chiswick, west London, in the spring and in St John's Wood, north London, by May. A fourth site, in the City of London is planned for the end of 2005.

Name That Chef winner Alastair Ross, chef-owner of the Oak Tree Inn in Hutton Magna, Richmond, North Yorkshire, has won Caterer's Name That Chef competition, which appeared in the Best of Chef supplement last month. Ross wins £1,000-worth of Villeroy & Boch china and glassware.

In case you're still guessing, the mysterious chefs were: Raymond Blanc; Rowley Leigh; Gordon Ramsay and Stephen Terry; Gary Rhodes; Michel Roux Snr and Richard Shepherd.

Seventh Malmaison Malmaison launched its seventh hotel last week in Belfast with a party which included chief executive officer Robert Cooke and celebrity guests Chris and Karron Eubanks. The latest opening will be followed by new hotels in Oxford next October and Liverpool in 2006. The group was launched in 1997 and now has hotels in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and London.

Russell Scott In Caterer's 2 December issue we wrote that "Scott Russell, formerly Harry Ramsden's chief executive and managing director at Scottish & Newcastle" was launching a new Indian restaurant chain, Asha. The correct name is Russell Scott. We are happy to make this clear.
