Harry Ramsden's, whose chairman, John Barnes, last week picked up the Catey for Group Restaurateur of the Year, is poised to open its 15th outlet. This week's Bournemouth opening will be followed by outlets in Cardiff in October and Belfast in March 1996.

asian chef school
Leading Indian restaurateurs are seeking Government backing to establish a £1m training centre for Indian and Bangladeshi chefs in the London area.
The Institute for Asian Cuisine, planned by members of the recently launched National Dome Grading Scheme, will have training kitchens, teaching rooms and a restaurant manned by students.
camden crackdown
The London Borough of Camden has warned that it will deal firmly with cafés in Hampstead flouting new rules on putting tables and chairs on the pavement. Offenders could face fines of up to £1,000.
Camden's move comes less than a month since Westminster City Council stepped up a campaign against unlicensed pavement cafés, confiscating furniture from outside four Soho cafés (News, 29 June).

The Manor of Groves hotel, golf and country club at Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, which went into receivership in August 1993, has been put up for sale. Agent Knight Frank & Rutley has set an asking price of £3.5m for the 32-bedroom property.
