Smoking practice?

The Health and Safety Commission is seeking views on a proposal to introduce an Approved Code of Practice to control passive smoking at work. If approved, pub landlords and restaurant owners would need to take measures to reduce smoke exposure affecting bar staff and waiters.

Growth to continue

The restaurant sector will continue to grow over the next few years according to market analysts Key Note. Its latest report, Restaurants, states the UK restaurant market will reach a value of £13.1b by the year 2003.

Chips in Florida

Harry Ramsden's is to open a take-away fish and chip kiosk in Disneyland, Florida. It has signed a deal with Walt Disney Corporation to provide fish and chips at the British pavilion. It will open in time for Disney's millennium celebrations, which start on 1 October.

A US Internet company called featuredfoods is offering frozen home delivery of well-known restaurant dishes. The company is a subsidiary of Bravo Restaurants.
