Shareholders of Allied Domecq gave their formal approval to the £2.7b sale of its pub estate to private chain Punch Taverns this week at an extraordinary meeting, where the directors faced severe criticism over their handling of the transaction.

Eat with Amoy

Amoy is the latest food manufacturer to open its own restaurant. The Amoy Noodle Restaurant opens today(26 August) in the Strand, London, to promote the producer's range of noodles and sauces. It seats 200.

An Italian restaurant in Weston-super-Mare has changed hands after beingin the same family for 63 years. Ferrari's has beenrun by the Ferrari familysince opening in 1936, but has been sold to anotherItalian restaurateur,Franco Rinaldi.

Tanners opening

Brothers Christopher and James Tanner have opened their first restaurant, Tanners, in Prysten House, thought to be the oldest building in Plymouth, Cornwall.

Feng Shui opening

A £1.5m split-level restaurant built to strict Feng Shui guidelines opens in Manchester's Chinatown on 1 September. Pacific will serve Thai food on the upper level and Chinese cuisine below.
