Middle Eastern buffet

The Churchill Inter-Contintental on London's Portman Square will be going Lebanese from 24 July to 9 September. Cold mezze and traditional dishes such as baba ghanoush, kibbeh sambousak and fatayer will be available as part of a three-course dinner buffet (£30) which will be on offer between 6.30pm and 11.30pm. An à la carte menu will be served between 11pm and 2am. The food will be prepared under the guidance of visiting chef Jean Ballouz, executive chef at the Hotel Inter-Continental in Abu Dhabi.

Welsh wizard

Andy Addis-Fuller, head chef at the Griffin Inn, Llyswen, has taken the runner-up's slot in the International Chefs Competition at the Bretvin Millennium Food and Wine Festival in France. In his first international competition, Addis-Fuller caught the judges' attention with a fish dish centred on a beurre blanc sauce. He gave it a Welsh slant by including leeks and Welsh samphire. Addis-Fuller also took the opportunity to introduce French colleagues to Welsh cheeses.
