Ann Street Turnover

Jersey-based pub and hotel group Ann Street has posted a 4.5% rise in turnover to £51.7m for the six months to 30 July. Profit before tax and exceptional items was up 2% to £5.01m.

Matthews In Custody

Stanley John Matthews, the kitchen porter charged with murdering his 17-year old girlfriend, Patricia Berriman, (Caterer, 19 October, page 12) has been remanded in custody. He is due to re-appear before South-east Cornwall magistrates on 14 November.

Clarke Leaves

David Clarke (above) has left his position as director and general manager of Glasgow's 168-bedroom Beardmore hotel. The hotel would not say why he had gone. He remains chairman of the British Hospitality Association in Scotland.

Pabulum Success

Pabulum, of Fleet, Hampshire, the catering arm of Quarr Group - formerly known as Group 90, has scooped a four-year contract worth £3m in turnover to feed staff and students at eight sites of The London Institute.
