Independent marketing campaign
As a brand built on marketing, American Express is proud to sponsor the Best Independent Marketing Campaign award within the Cateys and to have been a supporter of this award for many years.
American Express is a firm believer in the importance of effective marketing and supports this award wholeheartedly. Entrants come from all sectors and don't necessarily need to be famous names. The award is open to all single-unit hotels, pubs, restaurants or other catering outlets that are directly controlled by their owners. Last year, the 70-seater Weavers Shed, in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, scooped the title in recognition of several promotions aimed particularly at local businesses. These promotions helped raise the profile of the restaurant within the surrounding community.
They included jazz evenings, book launches and local media competitions: in one the winner was chauffeur-driven to the Weavers Shed for a meal. In total, the £25,000 marketing campaign helped the restaurant increase its covers by 25% and increase profits by 35%. This clearly illustrates the benefits of good marketing and the value it adds to any business. It has delivered profitable, visible results to all previous winners.
Stephen Jackson of the Weavers Shed epitomises the qualities of a Best Independent Marketing Campaign winner. The campaign was praised by judges for its "faultless presentation" and precise identification of its target market.
If you believe your marketing initiative should be recognised, please enter it for this year's Independent Marketing Campaign award. Entry forms are available from Sarah Sutton on 0181-652 8349. The deadline is 18 April.
American Express looks forward to welcoming another exceptional establishment to the list of winners of this highly prestigious award.
