Independent Scotland wins World Cup

The Scottish Junior Culinary Team may be less than three years old, but that did not stop it winning one of the most challenging international cooking events on the competition circuit.

Competing at the Culinary World Cup, organised by the World Association of Cooks Societies (WACS), in Luxembourg last month, Adrian Manson, 20, Mandy Fraser, 20, William Boyter, 21, and Andy MacGillivray, 20, returned home with gold medals from both the hot and cold kitchen classes.

Scotland won the right to compete at WACS events as a country in its own right, and not under the umbrella of the UK team, in 1998 after eight years of lobbying for national recognition.
