Interactive controls
Computer-based interactive control touch-screens are rapidly replacing simpler LED temperature read-outs on all sorts of equipment, providing staff with on-the-spot diagnostics and operating data. The further ability to download data to PCs or printers aids HACCP compliance, energy saving logs and other needs.
Marking a first for display countering control, Victor Manufacturing showed a version of its "Curves" bespoke countering with a touchscreen screen detailing the entire counter diagrammatically in terms of temperatures and energy usage.
The sleek lines of Elro's Sirius cooking suite are enhanced by the complete absence of knobs. All controls of the island range on show were handled via a touch-screen on a central stalk. The computerised controls, compatible across Elro equipment, help cut energy usage by up to 30 per cent through optimisation programmes.
Refrigeration is also getting a lot more interactive as with latest versions of Foster Refrigerator's Ice Spy monitoring and logging systems and Williams data download system.
Even hand washing equipment now has touchpad controls to identify the user and logging their usage, as with CH Europe's HACCP Handwash Supervisor 1200.
