Jarvis set to ease bureaucratic burden

New British Hospitality Association council chairman John Jarvis has pledged to fight the "unprecedented burden" of bureaucracy weighing on the hospitality industry.

The Jarvis Hotels chairman and chief executive stressed that it was the council's role to ensure that the Government noted the industry's views and gave time for sufficient consultation before introducing new laws.

He intends to make this one of the main platforms of his chairmanship, along with simplifying the industry's qualifications to make them universally recognisable.

Jarvis, who succeeds Hilton chief executive David Michels as BHA chairman, claimed that the council had a "very positive role" to play in the industry's relations with Government.
