Jurys Doyle snaps up Chamberlain

Ireland-based Jurys Doyle Hotel Group has bought UK-based Chamberlain Hotels for £41.9m.

Chamberlain operates two hotels in Birmingham - the three-star Chamberlain Tower and the two-star Chamberlain Park hotel.

The cost per bedroom of the deal is about £60,300.

The Tower hotel will be renamed the Jurys Birmingham Inn. It has 445 bedrooms, two restaurants, a bar and a conference centre.

Jurys said the 250-bedroom Park hotel did not fit with its plans in the UK and would be sold. It is 15 minutes' walk from the city centre.

Jurys chief executive Pat McCann said: "Our strategy is to develop our Inns brand in city-centre locations throughout the UK."
