Jurys pins hopes on buoyant autumn
Irish hotel group Jurys Doyle is pinning its hopes on buoyant occupancy levels in September and October to bolster half-year trading results.
The group, which reported a drop in full-year profits in July, expects to see stronger trading in these two key months, chairman Walter Beatty told today's annual general meeting.
This is despite reduced business, particularly from the USA, in its Dublin and London hotels recently.
But while four-star hotels have suffered reduced room yields, Jurys reported that its five-star Berkeley Court and Westbury hotels in Dublin have put in strong performances.
Beatty, who was appointed to the board in 1972, retires at the end of August. He is to be replaced by Richard Hooper, a former director of the Investment Bank of Ireland.
