Killing still baffles police

Police are still unable to give a motive for a shooting in a London restaurant last year which caused the death of a 31-year-old man.

A verdict of unlawful killing was recorded at Hornsey coroner's court, London, last week over Mark St Joseph Spence, a Jamaican-born unemployed painter and decorator.

Spence died after he was shot in the chest last April at The Place To Be, a Caribbean restaurant in north London, when four gunmen burst in and sprayed customers with bullets. Two other men were wounded. No one has yet been charged.
