Little Chef must stop acting fresh

Little Chef has been told by trading standards officers to stop describing its ready-made omelettes as "freshly cooked" on its menus. The chain, owned by Granada, admitted it bought its omelettes ready-made after a customer queried whether they were made on the premises (Caterer, 29 July, page 6).

David Hall, a spokesman for Little Chef, said: "Trading Standards has asked that we amend our menu description so that we no longer use the words ‘freshly cooked'. We will comply with that as soon as is feasible."
