London bomb wreaks havoc

The car carrying the explosives set off by the Real IRA in Ealing last weekend was parked directly opposite a Burger King restaurant. Although the window was blown in violently by the blast, nobody was injured.

The chain said the restaurant had suffered "some damage". But it added: "As our chief regard is the health and safety of all our employees and customers, we are pleased to say that no injuries were sustained by anyone in the restaurant."

A second Burger King restaurant in nearby Haven Green was closed at the time of the explosion and was not damaged.

Windows in the Town House pub, which had been holding a karaoke night, were blown in as it was just yards from the blast. At the North Star pub, which again had its windows blown in, landlord Peter Fennelly said: "My pub has been massively damaged. I don't know when it will reopen."

The front of an All Bar One restaurant was damaged and water from the burst main leaked into the building, according to a spokeswoman.
