London hotel for park consul

German-based hotel management company Park Consul is set to make its entrance to the UK market in April when it will start managing a new London townhouse hotel.

The 46-bedroom Park Consul Hotel opens on 15 April at Ixworth Place, Chelsea. An unnamed Thai family owns the property and funded its £6m conversion from its former use as a police hostel.

"The hotel will be an English-styled, four-star standard property. We are aiming for business customers from the UK and overseas," said Ted Theobald, who is to be the hotel's general manager.

Rack rates will start at about £150, rising to about £290 for one of the nine suites.

Eating areas will include a 60-seat conservatory and a function room for 80 people.
