Love is National Chef of the Year

Steve Love, chef-patron of Love's Restaurant in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, has been named National Chef of the Year.

Ian Morgan, executive chef of Establishment Restaurant in Manchester, took second place, while third spot went to Nick Vadis, executive chef at British Airways Waterside, Harmondsworth, west London.

The competition, run by the Craft Guild of Chefs and sponsored by food manufacturer Knorr, took place at the Restaurant Show in London last week.

Finalists had to create a three-course meal for four people from a mystery box of ingredients in just three hours.

Previous winners have included Gordon Ramsay, Roger Narbett and Mark Sargeant.
