Lynch to receive £43,000 compensation

Rod Lynch, the man whose job as chief executive of VisitScotland was withdrawn days after his appointment, is to get £43,000 from the Scottish tourism agency.

VisitScotland, formerly the Scottish Tourist Board, is to pay Lynch £25,000 compensation and £18,000 legal costs.

VisitScotland described the settlement as amicable. A spokesman said: "VisitScotland and Mr Lynch accept that there were genuine misunderstandings on both sides."

Lynch's £145,000-a-year job was withdrawn days after his appointment in April last year when he refused to give up a second post as chairman and chief executive of Global Supply Systems, an Essex air cargo firm.
