M fish blames site for closure

M fish, the upmarket fish and chip restaurant in London's St Katherine's Dock which opened last August boasting a menu created by Anton Mosimann, has been forced to close.

Ivory Fish Restaurants, which owns M Fish, has gone into liquidation following the withdrawal of its main backers. Managing director Terrence Bramble said seasonal trade at the dock was to blame.

"We had very good lunchtime trade and had a goodreputation," said Mr Bramble. But this was not enough to carry a business that was intended to be open seven days a week, all day and all evening, he added.

Mr Bramble and his associates are now looking for new backers and hope to hear in the next few months whether M Fish can be resurrected.
