Mathieson's school move

Nick Nairn and John Webber have recruited chef Alan Mathieson to the team at recreational cookery school Nairns Cook School, in line with plans to expand the business.

Previously executive chef with Hurricane Restaurants, overseeing Tempus in Glasgow's CCA and the two Hurricane Bar & Grills in both Edinburgh and Manchester, Mathieson joins the school as a new tutor.

Catering for trade parties and private students, the school is adding a new restaurant-feel dining area, larger demonstration area, a retail store and new office facilities to help increase capacity and meet demand for places.

The school was opened in April 2000 by Scottish chef Nairn and Webber, former head chef at Gidleigh Park in Devon and previous director of the Drambuie Scottish Chefs' Centre in Glasgow.
