Maw brings ongoing training to Marriott

Taking a hands-on role in the running of the London Marriott hotel, Park Lane, is a vital part of the job for THERESA MAW.

The new general manager of the 157-bedroom hotel, which opens in November, has been involved in every detail from choosing the pillowcases to picking out the fabric for the curtains. Her management team has recruited 118 staff and Maw is ensuring that she meets every one.

She said: "I feel it's important to be really involved, to get to know the staff and for them to know who the general manager is."

Ongoing training for all staff is another element of Maw's management style. In previous jobs, Maw introduced a 15-minute training session for all staff every day and is keen to implement this in her new role.

Previously, Maw was hotel manager of the Renaissance London Chancery Court, where she gained plenty of experience in co-ordinating the opening of a large five-star-standard hotel.

Prior to this, she was resident manager of the London Marriott County Hall hotel.
