McDonald's donates $2m towards relief efforts

McDonald's Corporation is donating $1m towards the relief efforts in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. Its charity division is matching the sum with a further $1m donation.

Chairman and chief executive Jack Greenberg said: "We are all devastated by the horrific acts of terrorism.

"I know I speak for everyone at McDonald's when I say our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of all the victims of this national tragedy."

McDonald's is serving food to the search and rescue teams in New York City.

It has brought in two mobile McDonald's, along with eight supply trucks to service the restaurants near the site of the former World Trade Centre.

McDonald's is also providing meals to the teams working at the Pentagon and supplying food to the emergency crews in Somerset County.
