Mckie leaves Coffee Republic

Rod Mckie, managing director of Coffee Republic, is leaving the company to "pursue other opportunities".

The announcement comes just weeks after new chief executive Peter Morris was hired.

Mckie, the former operations director of Prêt a Mànger, joined Coffee Republic in December 1998, replacing founder Bobby Hashemi as managing director. Hashemi became chief executive until Morris'appointment in March.

During Mckie's time at the company the chain grew from 25 outlets to 78. In its last financial statement covering the six months to September 2000, the company ran up pre-tax losses of £1.3m. The annual results are due in July.
