Mercier bows out of Grosvenor House

The Grosvenor House hotel's conference and banqueting executive chef, Charles Mercier, is to officially hang up his whites at the end of March.

Mercier, who has been with the hotel since 1992, has overseen seven Cateys banquets for Caterer & Hotelkeeper but has been suffering from ill-health for the past 12 months.

He will retire to his home town of Evian in France.

It is understood that he finished full-time duties in the hotel's kitchen at the end of December. He is currently working on a consultancy basis for two weeks every month to help ensure a smooth handover to his successor, Fabrizio Cadei.

Cadei will be overseeing this year's Cateys banquet. The Grosvenor House declined to comment on the change of personnel.
