Morgan Arms clinches London pub of the year award

The Morgan Arms has won the Evening Standard London pub of the year, despite not being nominated last year.

Part of the Geronimo Inns group, the gastro pub won through to the shortlist, with the winner being decided by Evening Standard readers.

The pub underwent an extensive refurbishment last year and now offers an East-end style menu, which includes smoked eel with celeriac and wally salsa (picked cucumber), in keeping with Geronimo's food-led approach.

The pub is on Morgan Street on the edge of Tredegar Square in the East end.

This week Geronimo Inns appointed Chris Hutt as non-executive chairman.

Hutt has spent more than 30 years in the pub industry and was a former chief executive of Unicorn pubs and Wizard Inns.
