New life for Dedham Vale

Colchester hoteliers and restaurateurs the Milsom family have bought back the former Dedham Vale Hotel which they owned for 35 years before selling it to Royal London Insurance for £450,000 in 1994.

Gerald Milsom and his son Paul intend to convert the property, which for six years has been a training centre, into a 15-bedroom hotel called Milsoms.

The family also owns the nearby 80-seat Le Talbooth Restaurant and 10-bedroom country house hotel Maison Talbooth near the Essex village of Dedham, and the Pier restaurant in Harwich. The latest property will open in April.
