New pair for Shoeless Joe

Shoeless Joe's is to double the number of its bar-restaurants to four with the acquisition of two London sites from Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries (W&D).

It is spending £1.6m on buying and refitting the restaurants.

One opens on 5 October at W&D's former Bar 25 site at 1 Abbey Orchard Street. The other follows on 19 October at the former Bar 2 site at 2 Old Change Court. Both will have 60-seat brasseries and bars, with a capacity of 400 people.

The company expects net turnover from the four outlets to hit £5.7m for the year to 30 April 2001, and £7m the year after.

Marketing director Alex da Silva said that the company, which already has Shoeless Joe's restaurants in London's King's Road and Temple, wants another site in the capital. It is also looking for sites in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol.
