New Zealand set for a good year

Despite none-too brilliant vintages in 1992 and 1993, New Zealand wine sales have continued to grow in the UK.

Last year showed an increase of 13% in UK sales on the previous year. And although 1994 was an excellent year for quality, the quantity of vintage was still a little below average.

There is a different story for 1995 which is expected to be nearly 40% up on 1994, and the second biggest vintage since 1983. It is hoped the increased volume will ease pressure on prices and increase distribution further.

Look out for the new regional denomination for New Zealand wines, which will help to consolidate their already high reputation.
