North-west tourism businesses honoured

Manchester's Mash &Air restaurant was named Restaurant of the Year at the United Utilities North West Tourism Awards.

The Park Royal International hotel, near Warrington in Cheshire, was named Hotel of the Year and the 32-bedroom Alderley Edge hotel in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, was awarded the title of Best Small Hotel of the Year.

The Bed and Breakfast of the Year award went to the Old Coach House in Blackpool, while the Stakis hotel in Blackpool won a silver Training for Tourism Award.

The North-west tourism industry is worth £1.5b a year and supports 200,000 jobs.

The awards were held at Aintree Race Course in Liverpool.
