Oliver's training restaurant opens

Jamie Oliver's restaurant, which aims to train unemployed and disadvantaged youngsters as chefs, opened last week.

Fifteen, the 70-seat restaurant in London's Hoxton, will operate as a charitable enterprise and profits will be used to fund training for students or be donated to Oliver's Cheeky Chops charity.

The 15 trainees were whittled down from 1,000 applicants in March this year and offered traineeships followed by a job in the restaurant. Every six months another 15 youngsters will be selected for training.
