Coffee in cardiff

Coffee Mania, an Italian-style coffee chain, opens its first café at Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay, on 25 July. It will seat 40 outside and 45 inside. Coffee Mania has a 15-year lease for the site at a rent of £25,000 a year.

£1.75m revamp

The 11th Courtyard by Marriott hotel opens in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on 9 July. The former Swallow hotel has been refurbished and its kitchens extended at a cost of £1.75m. It has 100 bedrooms, 11 conference rooms, a leisure club, and employs 130 staff.

Burgers on ferry

Caterer Select Service Partner (SSP) has opened a Burger King on the Stena Line ferry route between Stranraer and Belfast. SSP has a brand franchise arrangement with the burger chain through its parent company, Compass.

Nardini's fifth

Nardini's, the Scottish-based ice-cream maker and confectioner, opened its fifth café this week. The family-run firm, established in 1941, has three cafés in Glasgow, and one on the Largs seafront in North Ayrshire. Its latest is in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

le deuxieme date

Le Deuxième opens on the former site of Magno's Brasserie in Covent Garden, London, on 30 July. The 65-seat restaurant is owned by Robert Seigler, who has been running Le Café du Jardin in nearby Wellington Street since 1993.
