Do you welcome the planned relaxation of the UK's gambling laws?

Very much so. Especially in Blackpool, which hopefully would be the centre of a Las Vegas-style operation. It's an integral part of the Blackpool regeneration programme. It would be a lifeline for Blackpool. We're waiting with bated breath.

Martin Jackson
General manager ofthe Big Blue hotelin Blackpool

Absolutely. It would be a great thing for the hotel industry. It would create a lot of opportunities for creative thinking within our sector. It would bring a new dimension, and instil more creativity to launch new design-led and themed hotels.

Robert Cook Managing director of boutique hotel chain Malmaison

We have about 80 hotels and 650 managed and tenanted pubs. So I suppose it's horses for courses and swings and roundabouts as far as we're concerned. What we lose in one area we'll gain in others, so it shouldn't really affect us either way.

Group chief executiveof London and Edinburgh Inns
