PD Smith buys the Parsonage

A York-based company has bought its second hotel, the Parsonage country house in Escrick, North Yorkshire.

PD Smith Holdings, which owns the Queen's hotel in York, has bought the Parsonage from Paul and Karan Ridley, who are retiring.

The Grade II-listed building was sold for an undisclosed figure off an asking price of £2m.

The hotel, built in 1848 as a home for the parson of the adjacent church of St Helen, has 21 bedrooms.

Work has begun on the building of an additional bedroom block, which will add another 23 rooms.

The Parsonage also has a 40-seat dining room and five function and conference rooms.

Christie & Co was the agent.
