Double act at Richmond gate

Graham Marskell has joined the Richmond Gate Hotel, Richmond, London, as general manager.

He joins the hotel, which is owned by Securicor Hotels, from the Woodlands Park Hotel in Cobham, Surrey, where he was deputy general manager.

Sidney Bond, also previously at Woodlands Park Hotel, has joined the Richmond Gate as head chef.

Mr Marskell said he planned to improve the standard of service and food, which was already a high-standard, four-star product.

He also hoped the restaurant would win some AA rosettes.

Top jobs filled at conran group

Lynn Nixon has joined Conran Restaurants' Quaglino's in London as head of private dining. She was previously head of food and beverage guest relations at London's Ritz Hotel.

Liz Naylor takes up the position of personnel manager at Quaglino's, from her former role as personnel manager at the Old Ship Hotel, Brighton, East Sussex.

Jane Platt has also joined Conran Restaurants, as personnel manager for Mezzo. She previously held the same position at the former Forte Crest in Glasgow city centre, now rebranded as a Forte Posthouse.

Quaglino's chef joins tory team

Louise Corbett has joined Nella Cucina Catering, based at Conservative Central Office in Westminster, London, as executive head chef.

Ms Corbett was previously pastry chef at Quaglino's, London, and before that worked at the Ritz Hotel, also in London. She takes over from owner Chandos Elletson, who will be spending less time in the kitchen.

Pubmaster chief in shock resignation

John Brackenbury last week resigned suddenly as director and executive chairman of Pubmaster, the 1,700-strong pub chain which is part of the beleaguered Brent Walker leisure group.

Mr Brackenbury's resignation has prompted speculation about the future of the group, which had been expected to float on the stock market.

Jurys galway inn gets new gm

Edward Stephenson has taken over as general man-ager of Jurys Galway Inn from Cormac O'Keefe, who had spent two years in the position.

Mr Stephenson joined Jurys in 1991 at Jurys Hotel Dublin. His most recent position was deputy general manager at Jurys Christchurch Inn in Dublin.

Mr O'Keefe is now general manager at Jurys Cardiff Hotel, acquired by Jurys Hotel Group in November 1995.

Pearce tees off at Bedford hotel

Tim Pearce has joined the Bedford Hotel in Sidmouth, Devon, as sous chef. He previously worked as head chef at the Woodbury Park Golf and Country Club near Exeter.

Mr Pearce and restaurant manager Colin Outhwaite both resigned recently from the Woodland Park Golf and Country Club after disagreements with its management. The club is owned by racing driver Nigel Mansell.

Roebuck moves to massarella

Ruth Roebuck joins Massarella Catering Group as national sales manager for the newly established contract catering division.

Ms Roebuck was previously regional development manager for Russell & Brand.

Headlines to be in head11ss

The Restaurant Property Advisors Society (RPAS) has made three senior changes to its executive committee.

Michael Freedman, partner of Adlers, moves up from vice-chairman to chairman of RPAS; David Coffer, chairman of Davis Coffer Lyons, becomes vice-chairman of RPAS; and previous chairman, Duncan Lillie, partner of Kemsley Whitely & Ferris, remains on the committee.

The RPAS's 38 members are professional property advisors specialising in the catering sector.
