ALAN MATTHEW has become executive chef of the Pentland restaurant at the Marriott Dalmahoy hotel in Edinburgh. He was executive chef of the city's Caledonian hotel.

RICK HOUSTON has been appointed general manager of the La Tasca restaurant in Glasgow. He was general manager of its sister La Tasca operation in Newcastle.

PIERRE STACHER is leaving his post as general manager of the Swissôtel in Cairo to become general manager of its namesake in Basel, Switzerland, on 31 August. He will replace JOE GEHRER, who is retiring.

ANDREW PRATT has been appointed restaurant manager of the Burlington restaurant at the Devonshire Arms hotel in Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire. He was general manager of the General Tarleton hotel in Knaresborough, Yorkshire.

RALPH TAYLOR, chairman and chief executive officer of Almond Beach Resorts in Barbados, has been elected president of the Caribbean Hotel Association.

JOAQUIM EUSEBIO has joined Whitbread's David Lloyd leisure club in Kirkby, Liverpool, as food and beverage manager. He was a unit manager with Est Est Est restaurants, part of City Centre Restaurants.

JENNIFER CHESTER has been appointed a client sales executive for Berkeley Scott recruitment. She was a recruitment consultant at the Fore Street employment agency.

JAMIE ALEXANDER has been promoted to general manager of the Left Bank Village restaurant complex in Hereford, Herefordshire. He was involved in staff recruitment and training with Eign Enterprises, the company that owns Left Bank Village.

JEAN-MARIE PEBRAL has become sales manager for the UK and Ireland at hotels reservations service SRS-Worldhotels. He previously worked in the company's

Spain and Portugal office, where he was conference and incentive organiser.

REINHARD HEERMAN has been recruited as general manager of the Grand Hotel Europe in St Petersburg, Russia. He was general manager of the Kempinski Hotel Airport in Munich, Germany. He replaces RICHARD BAYARD, who has left the Grand Hotel Europe to become general manager of the Ciragan Palace Hotel Kempinski in Istanbul, Turkey.

NEIL PORTER has taken over as group training manager of Choice Hotels Europe. He ran his own training consultancy, specialising in recruitment and leadership skills.

SIMON ELLIOT has become group sales manager of Servicespan, the holding company of contract caterer Senate Food Services and consultancy and purchasing group Catercheck, which merged earlier this year. He was national business development manager of Sodexho's Prestige Services in Australia.

ROGER GRAVES has been appointed general manager of Nottinghamshire's Thoresby Hall hotel. He was general manager of Holme Lacy House hotel in Hereford.ed) 992
