Hawkings heads up connoisseurs
Jeremy Hawkings, operations manager in Scotland for Chartwells, Compass Group's educational caterer, is to take over next month as chief executive of marketing consortium Connoisseurs Scotland.
Prior to his two-and-a-half years at Chartwells, Mr Hawkings was a consultant in Edinburgh for two years, after returning from Saudi Arabia where he was operations manager for Compass Group.
Mr Hawkings spent the first 12 years of his career working for British Transport Hotels, which used to include many of Connoisseurs Scotland's member establishments, such as Gleneagles Hotel and the St Andrews Old Course Hotel.
His predecessor at Connoisseurs Scotland, Ian Wilson, has returned to the marketing department at Gleneagles Hotel after a two-year secondment with the consortium.
Property expert joins greenalls
John Longden is to be the first property specialist to join the main board of pub retailer the Greenalls Group.
Mr Longden, who is to take on the new role of property director in October, has spent the past five years in a similar position at Bass, where he was also deputy chairman of Bass Developments.
Prior to working for Bass, Mr Longden spent eight years with Grand Metropolitan, most recently as managing director of worldwide building and development.
Rylett to oversee latest travel inn
Philippa Rylett is the new general manager of the Travel Inn in Chelmsford, Essex, which opened two weeks ago.
Ms Rylett has already managed the opening of the Travel Inn in Hemel Hempstead. She became involved with the brand after working as a franchise services manager at the head office of parent company Whitbread.
Sankey completes consort revamp
Consort Hotels has re-structured its sales and marketing departments so both are now headed up by former marketing director David Sankey.
Stan Posner has been appointed national sales manager reporting to Mr Sankey, having been in charge of sales for Resort Hotels. Consort's former director of sales, Mike Davies, is now director of reservations services.
New chairman for food safety body
Sir Colin Campbell, vice-chancellor of the University of Nottingham, will replace Ewan Page as chair of the Food Advisory Committee in October.
Three further appointments have been made: Tom Miller, technical services manager at Whitbread, Professor Christopher Ritson, professor of agricultural marketing at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and Phillip Strachan, head of research, development and quality assurance at Colman's of Norwich.

PHILLIP COUNSELL to general manager at the Hilton National Livingston, near Edinburgh, from deputy general manager at the Leeds City Hilton National. He will be replaced by Simon Murphy, former operations manager at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Southport.
WILLIAM REA to assistant manager at the George, Clandeboye, County Down - reopening this autumn as the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel - from bar manager at the Old Inn in Crawfordsburn, also in County Down.
DAVID Wyler to general sales manager for East Sussex-based food service company Smilde Food Group, from sales director at Vandermoortele in Hounslow, Middlesex.
JOSEPHINE RUDKIN to sales manager for 86 Park Lane, the banqueting complex at the Grosvenor House, London, from sales manager at Woodlands Park Hotel, Cobham, Surrey.
