The Radisson SAS Hotel Stansted Airport has appointed Oliver Staas general manager. The hotel, which will have 500 bedrooms, is due to open in the summer. Oliver has had a 12-year career with Radisson SAS, having most recently been regional director for the Baltics, St Petersburg, Sochi and Baku.

Davies

The Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort in Hensol, Vale of Glamorgan, has promoted its business development manager, Adrian Davies. Adrian becomes the four-star, 143-bedroom property's director of sales.

Cassandra McWilliams has joined as manager of the new Vital Health and Beauty Spa at Macdonald Hotels' Last Drop Village Hotel in Bolton, Lancashire. She moves to the four-star, 128-bedroom property after spending four years managing leisure activities on cruise liners.

Pubs and bars

Barracuda Group has made two new appointments and promotions. Darren Dykes, formerly a retail auditor looking after the company's Varsity brand, has been made audit manager. He takes over from Steve Welsh, who has also been promoted. Steve has become a deputy area manager. The two new recruits are Mike Smith and Shaun Mitchell. Both have previous pub experience with Scottish & Newcastle.

Penny Moore, director of marketing at supplier 3663, has moved to industry charity Hospitality Action. Penny's new role as director of strategy and marketing will see her focussing on the strategic development and profile of the organisation.

The World Travel & Tourism Council has elected Vincent Wolfington as its new chairman, following Sir Ian Prosser's retirement in December. Previously the council's vice chairman for membership, Vincent is also chairman and chief executive officer of worldwide chauffeur-driven car company, Carey International.

Recruitment consultancy Portfolio International has expanded its team with four new starters. The sales and marketing team has welcomed Jane How as senior consultant. Jane is experienced in sales and marketing and has most recently been regional manager for central London for electronic marketing firm Travelclick. David Blaylock joins the events team as a consultant from events company Moving Venue, where he was operations manager. Joining Portfolio's contracts division are Louise Foster as a consultant and Rona Thang as a co-ordinator. Louise previously worked with the BBC and Irish company KPMG Contacts. Rona has recently relocated to London, having been a general manager of a business and industry unit with Sodexho USA.
