Oriel Leisure, owner and operator of eight Express by Holiday Inn hotels in the UK, has made two new appointments. Markus Nasholm has been appointed financial controller at the company's headquarters in Uxbridge, Middlesex. He joins from the Cliveden hotel in Taplow, Berkshire, where he was assistant financial controller. Alice Ng has been promoted to the position of general manager designate of the 80-bedroom Express by Holiday Inn Peterborough. She will spend six months training for the role. She formerly worked as sales manager at the Howard Johnson hotel in Knowsley, Liverpool.

Moat House Hotels has appointed Mirabel Smith to the position of e-business and website manager. Mirabel was previously e-commerce manager for the UK division of KLM Dutch Airlines.

Pubs and bars

Inventive Leisure, operator of the Revolution vodka bar chain, has appointed Sean Curran to its board as finance director. Sean previously held the same position at holiday operator MyTravel. He will take over from Vernon Lord from 1 September.

Scottish & Newcastle Retail has appointed Peter Scargill as operations director to run its branded pub estate. He leaves his role as director of operational services at Mitchells & Butlers.

Jonathon was previously an area manager for Caffe Uno. Kevin's last job was as operations manager at the Hilton Puckrup Hall hotel in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. Simon Willis, managing director of drink machine manufacturer Crane Merchandising Systems, has become the national chairman of the Automatic Vending Association for a term of two years. Myhotel*info*, a London-based data management services company for independent hotel operators, has appointed Alan Cross director of business development. Alan was formerly head of business sales at OAG, a company providing flight schedule information, based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
