Hotels
The five-star, 165-bedroom Lowry Hotel in Manchester has promoted Steve McGlochan to head chef. He was previously the hotel's executive sous chef.
Michael Thaw has become the new general manager of the 172-bedroom Newcastle Holiday Inn, Tyne & Wear. His move follows six years as general manager of the Doncaster Moat House hotel in South Yorkshire.
The three-star, 21-bedroom Balmoral Hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, has appointed David Funnell general manager. David has worked in the town before as manager of the Squinting Cat pub, and more recently he has been running the Arndale Hotel in York.
Malaysian-owned hotel group Berjaya Hotels & Resorts has opened an office in London, based at the Berjaya Eden Park Hotel. Heading the office will be regional sales and marketing manager Olga Hadjiloizou. Previously responsible for the London hotel, Olga's new role incorporates sales and marketing for Berjaya's 18 hotels worldwide.
Christopher Rodrigues has been appointed to the board of Hilton Group as a non-executive director. He is group chief executive of financial advisor and estate agency Bradford & Bingley, having previously been group chief executive of tour operator Thomas Cook.
