Hotels

The four-star, 166-bedroom Copthorne Hotel Manchester has welcomed Wayne Hatenboer as head chef. Wayne previously held the same position at the Belmore hotel in Sale, Cheshire.

Gillian Greer has joined Park Plaza Hotels Europe as regional sales manager for the northern region. She was previously the northern regional account director for Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts.

Raymond Bickson, executive director of the Indian Hotels Company (India's largest hotel chain) will become the company's managing director in July. He takes over from RK Krishna Kumar, who will become the company's non-executive vice-chairman.

Restaurants

Kevin Bacon has been appointed to the board of City Centre Restaurants. Kevin has been working for the company's Frankie & Benny's chain since 1996, latterly as managing director.

Pubs and bars

Opening in mid-July is the Terraces Bar & Grill in Brighton, a 420-capacity venue owned by Glendola Leisure. Managing the seafront bar will be Ross Barnes, former manager of Smugglers, a Glendola Leisure pub in Brighton.

Springwood has appointed Steven Mugglestone finance director, following the departure of David Stevenson. Steven had been assisting David since June 2002. David has left his position to become finance director of North-west pub operator and brewery Jennings.

Hospitality property specialist Robert Barry & Co has welcomed James Innes to the role of associate director. James brings with him more than three years' experience in the central London property market.
