Phone survey number is unobtainable
The British Hospitality Association's call for members to take part in a survey on dwindling revenues from hotel phones appears to have fallen on deaf ears.
Nick Wenham, sales and communications manager, has to date been "overwhelmed by indifference" in his attempts to interest members in the proposed survey by telecoms consultancy Interconnections (Caterer, 5 March, page 11). But he believes that the issue is important for the hotel industry, and is still hoping to attract participants.
The planned survey aimed to find out whether hotels were losing revenue because of the high rates they charge for calls, and the growth of cheaper alternatives such as mobile phones.
