Premier wins franchise deal for Europe

Premier Hotels has been awarded the master franchise to develop mid-market Howard Johnson hotels throughout eight European countries.
The deal calls for Premier to open nearly 40 hotels over the next five years, starting in 2001 with Germany and Austria, then Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
Earlier this year, Premier was awarded the master franchise to introduce 60 Howard Johnson and Days Inn hotels across the UK for the brand's USA-based owner, Cendant Corporation.
