Prince pledges support over seafood stocks

The Prince of Wales has lent his support to the world's fisheries.

Addressing guests at a gala dinner hosted last week by the Maritime Stewardship Council (MSC), the global charity working to combat depletion of global seafood stocks, the Prince underlined the importance of eating fish from sustainable sources.

"In addition to good science and good regulation, we need a system that harnesses the power of the consumer and provides economic incentives to well-managed, sustainable fisheries", he said.

Chef-restaurateur Rick Stein, who prepared the main course, called on supermarkets and restaurants to support the initiative by offering MSC-accredited products.
