Pro-am scholarships for chefs

A new culinary prize worth £60,000 has been launched by the Scottish Chefs Association (SCA) in association with American Express.
The American Express Chef Scholarship Scheme will give 12 amateur and professional chefs from around the world the opportunity to attend an all-expenses-paid residential course at the Drambuie Scottish Chefs Centre, Glasgow. Each award is worth £5,000.
At least half of the students will come from the UK, says the SCA, and the scholarships will begin in January next year.
The SCA, launched four years ago, claims a professional membership of more than 600 and owns its own hotel and cookery school.
