Sitting pretty

A new range of seating units aimed at staff restaurants, quick-service restaurants and education feeding has been launched by Dawley. The seating is in a fixed-down position and linked together in configurations of two, four or six seats separated by a laminate-surface table.

Seat construction is in steel tube, but with a fixed padded seat. Colour options include blue, red, grey, white, brown and blue.

Hot snack

New from sandwich filling maker Fridays are Louisiana Beef Slices, cooked with a smokey barbecue flavour and a hint of hot chilli pepper. The slices are 2mm thick and cut from topside only.

A modern Classic

Two years in development, the Classic XL range of under-counter glass and dishwashing equipment from British warewashing manufacturer Classic has been designed with three principles in mind: self-diagnostic performance monitoring, programmable wash cycles and extremely simple usability.

The inclusion of advanced printed circuit board control in conjunction with a display screen means every major function of a dishwasher and a glasswasher is monitored.

While there are two default wash cycle settings, a wide range of wash times can be programmed in for individual needs.

The XL range has also been built with a double skin. There is a stainless steel casing and a moulded polycarbonate wash tank with an insulating gap between. This both reduces energy consumption and keeps the exterior cool.

While a wide range of under-counter sizes are planned by Classic, the XL launches with 400mm and 500mm basket sizes.

Now wash your hands

Electric hand-wash units deliver an efficient use of water and electricity with a direct water feed and heating at the point of delivery. The new Santon EV2001 units aim to deliver this efficiency at a very competitive price.

The water heater is available in two power ratings. The 3.1kW boiler will connect straight into a ring circuit, while the faster 7.2kW needs to have dedicated high-load cabling. A safety cut-out prevents overheating beyond 92ºC and a pressure-relief valve prevents any internal build-up of pressure should the outlet become blocked.

Filled Yorkshire puds

Tryton Foodservice has extended its range of frozen filled Yorkshire puddings. The 5in deep range now has filling options of chilli, sausage and onion, and beef stew.

The fillings come in microwaveable pouches, separate from the puddings. Both are heated independently, then assembled for service in just a few minutes.

It's a Lumberjack and it's OK

McCain has brought out Lumberjack Chips, cut from skin-on potato - the biggest chip the company has ever produced. Lumberjacks are exclusive to the catering industry, and as well as the skin-on they have a random length to give a more home-made appearance. Also, being a bigger chip, oil-saturation per serving is much less.

Sausage slice

Lorne sausage slices, the square sausage log popular in Scotland, has been added to the frozen meat products range from Unger. Each pattie is square-shaped and weighs 72g, making it ideal for burger buns or breakfasts. The slices are frozen and come packed in 1kg pouches of 14 slices, with six packs to a case.

Low-fat sandwich fillings

Following the trend for lower-calorie sandwiches, Glanbia has launched a range of low-fat sandwich fillings, including prawns in sweet chilli and chicken piri-piri. Also from Glanbia comes Red Hot Mex Cheddar, designed to be melted over Tex-Mex items such as nachos and jacket potatoes.

Pick up a panini

Brambles Foods has launched a range of cooked and frozen filled paninis under the Panini Vitalia label, which will regenerate in a panini grill or a combi-oven.

Fillings include English Breakfast; Italian Chicken with Char-Grilled Vegetables and Pesto; and Mushroom, Roasted Onions and Pecorino.

Brambles Foods is also offering package deals to include a chromed grill unit for toasting the product.
