Punters' Gold Cup runneth over

Race-goers at last week's Cheltenham Festival downed 250,000 pints of beer and lager, 12,000 bottles of Champagne and 3,000 gallons of tea and coffee, according to festival caterer Letheby & Christopher.

And to soak it all up the 150,00 punters tucked away a tidy 25,000 hot four-course meals, 20,000 baguettes, 800 fresh salmon and six tonnes of potatoes - a case of galloping hunger that required 120 chefs, 130 supervisors and 3,000 casual staff to keep pace with.
