Radisson targets growth

RADISSON Hotels Worldwide (RHW), which includes the SAS and Edwardian groups, plans to increase in size by as many as 65 hotels over the next year.

Half of the new hotels will be in Europe, almost half in North Africa and the rest in Asia.

Radisson Edwardian, the privately owned London group of hotels that has a marketingagreement with RHW, plans to expand outside the capital, adding two hotels each year through management contracts.

Managing director David Batts confirmed that the group had signed a deal with property company Targetfollow to convert former council offices in Birmingham's city centre Baskerville House building into a 200-bedroom hotel, due to open towards the end of 2002.

RHW, which has 400 hotels in 53 countries, has also launched a new logo, which will cost it more than £31m in new signs.
