Ramsay closes Glasgow restaurant

Gordon Ramsay's Glasgow restaurant Amaryllis has today closed after the chef's company announced it would be focusing on London.

A spokesperson for Gordon Ramsay Holdings said: "We are sorry to be closing down Amaryllis but it is line with our strategy to consolidate our operations in London."

Citrus Hotels, which owns One Devonshire Gardens where Amaryllis is located, immediately announced plans to replace the 70-seat restaurant with another fine-dining operation.

The company is in the middle of a projected £2m refurbishment of the hotel.

Stephen McCorkell, director of Citrus Hotels, said: "Our intention [is] to enhance the environment and reintroduce the type of dining that proved so successful for One Devonshire in the past."
