Religious conversion

BUILT in an old church hall, Chapel Lafayette on Fulham's North End Road is heavy on religious theming with its wall shrines and iconography. Opened at the beginning of the month, the Cajun-style restaurant has enlisted the design talents of Adrian Lissen, Bob Rose and Rob Rowlett.

Previously responsible for the lively Bar Escoba in South Kensington, Adrian Lissen has incorporated a spacious bar area at the front of the restaurant. Custom-made furniture and fittings are by Tim Sheward and James Blishen of Merchants, whose previous commissions have included The Edge and a memorable sink unit in the loos at Christopher's. Food is from Frank Rourke. Spiced ribeye steak with ginger snap gravy (£10.50) and blackened salmon (£8) complete Rourke's homage to Creole and Cajun food after several years spent working in the USA.
