Remote monitoring

AN innovative radio telemetry system is being used by John Rannoch Foods on the refrigerated trailers which it employs to deliver food to retailers and foodservice outlets. It enables 18 of the company's refrigerated vehicles to be linked to a data logging system.

An in-vehicle transmitter delivers temperature measurements automatically taken from up to eight sensors located around each trailer. It also records events such as door open/closed and compressor on/off. When trailers return to the depot, either empty or carrying ingredients, data from the system is automatically downloaded to provide total traceability and product security with minimum administrative overheads.
